Biography
Chris
Hayes
was elected as the Federal Member for Werriwa in April
2005.
In coming to the
Parliament Chris bought a diverse array of skills and
experience with a career that included a period as a union
official through to involvement with a business development
consultancy.
Chris has
consulted to regional health facilities in NSW, the printing
industry, aircraft engineering, food processing, power
generation companies as well as being an adviser to the CEO
of NRMA and the Sydney Airport Corporation.
Chris is a member
of the Joint Standing Committee on the Australian Crime
Commission, Broadcasting of Parliamentary Proceedings and
Publications. Chris is also a member of the House of Representatives’ Standing
Committees on Employment and Workplace Relations,
Publications and the House..
Chris is also a
Government Whip, where in Parliament he is responsible for
arranging speakers in debates, attendance of Members when a
vote is called and also acts as a teller.
Chris lives in Leumeah
with his wife Bernadette and has three children and four
grandchildren.
