LOCAL CAMPBELLTOWN RESIDENTS
RECEIVE THE AUSTRALIAN DEFENCE MEDAL
Federal Member for Werriwa,
Chris Hayes MP, will host a presentation of the Australian
Defence Medal for 7 local Campbelltown residents today at
the Ingleburn RSL Club.
Mr Hayes said “I am honoured
to be able to acknowledge and recognise the individual
contribution made by members of our Australian Defence
Forces".
“I am particularly pleased to
be able to present these medals today in the lead up to this
week’s ANZAC Day commemorations”.
Major Cameron Thorley of the
School of Military Engineering, Liverpool Military Area
joined with Mr Hayes in presenting the medals.
Over one million Australians
are eligible for the Australian Defence Medal which was
introduced in 2006.
“The Medal was established to
recognise Australian Defence Force Regular and Reserve
personnel who have demonstrated their service to the nation
by serving four years or their initial enlistment period,
whichever is lesser, since the end of World War II” said Mr
Hayes.
